Founded in 1914 by Albert Swent, the business began as a repair shop, garage and welding facility. For many years, the business was involved in moving and repairing drilling rigs for the Natural Gas Industry.
As demand grew, the business expanded their facilities to include a machine shop. Located in Rainham Centre, A. Swent & Sons drew business from Niagara Falls to St. Thomas along the North Shore of Lake Erie.
Over the years, the company has evolved to meet the demands of their clients from wartime contracts and repairs to local industry such as Steel Mills, Hydro, Oxygen, Aggregate and Water Treatment Plants along with the Fabrication of Conveyor Systems.
In 1969, Ted Swent purchased the business and in 1974 became a limited company as A. Swent & Sons Ltd.
Today, with a watchful eye from Ted, and with a new name, Swent Fabrication and Machine Ltd., the company is now under the management and operation of his children, Aaron Swent, Jamie Schweyer and Mark Swent. The business still resides on 12.5 acres of commercial property and employs between 15-25 people who are committed to providing product excellence and a high level of service.
With a change in name and ownership, it only made sense to extend the services of Swent Fabrication & Machine Ltd. In May 2016, Swent MetalWorks Division opened offering a variety of high quality fabricated finished products for industrial and municipal use.
